Finding a deodorant that smells good and lasts all day can be a little tricky. With the vast number of brands on the market, each has its own formula and lasting effects throughout the day.
Everyone’s bodies are different, but Schmidt’s is a company that focuses on clean ingredients and an eco-friendly approach.
For our Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant reviews, we’re going to look at how they’re different from the rest and what makes them a favorite for many of their customers (I’ve also been using this brand for years, so I’ll be sharing my experience).

What is Schmidt’s?
Crafted from natural ingredients such as coconut oil, shea butter, and essential oils, Schmidt’s is a deodorant brand that prides itself on creating an all-natural deodorant that people love.
Their products avoid contents like parabens and aluminum salts, and they come in different forms of application, such as sprays, sticks, and even jars.
Not only are they a great choice for those who care about the environment, but their products are competitively affordable too.
Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant Overview
Boasting multiple certifications from organizations like Ecocert, Leaping Bunny, and SmartLabel, these go to show that every aspect of their product is vegan, free of animal cruelty, and friendly to the environment.
Aside from that, the company seems to offer a wide range of feminine and masculine scents that people will love (such as fresh cucumber, rosemary, rose, and vanilla, just to name a few).
Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant Reviews
My Experience: A few years back, I went on a natural deodorant kick and tried a ton of different products and brands. Schmidt’s is my favorite (and my boyfriend’s favorite as well).
I have only used their stick deodorants, but they are my go-to products. They have a ton of different scents, which all smell amazing while not being too overwhelming. They seem to have more feminine scents, but they do have some nice-smelling “manly” options as well.
The only downside we noticed is that their natural formulations tend to melt easier than your mainstream deodorant, so you want to make sure to keep it stored at room temperature. If it gets too warm, it might melt all over the cap or all over your armpit when you apply it.
Overall, it does a surprisingly great job at minimizing armpit odor and even seems to make us sweat less than normal.
Overall Rating: ★★★ 3.5 Stars
Everyone seems to love the brand’s eco-friendly approach and effective formulations like I do, but there are some complaints about the texture of the deodorant.
Some have had reactions to it, which may be due to their use of baking soda in their products (this is known to be quite disruptive to the skin, especially in the underarm area). A handful of their products are baking soda free, but a majority of their catalog is not. Also, some people stated that it stained their clothing.
That being said, my boyfriend and I have used Schmidt’s deodorant for years and have never had issues (he has pretty sensitive skin too). They have lovely scents and their products are very effective in my experience.
Pricing: ★★★★ 4 Stars
Although not as cheap as a non-natural deodorant, Schmidt’s is definitely affordable compared to some other natural deodorant brands.
Most of their products range from $6 to $12 depending on sales, but you’ll also have to tack on shipping charges unless you purchase from Amazon or a local store. Nevertheless, it seems many customers are willing to pay that price due to their clean ingredients and wide range of available scents.
Plus, you can also find Schmidt’s deodorant at some retail stores such as Target if you’d rather not pay for shipping.
Shipping: ★★★★ 4 Stars
Buyers can take advantage of free shipping on purchases over $30, which means you’ll need to add a few different products to your cart before reaching that limit. If you’re paying for shipping, the company states this price can vary based on how many items you order and your particular location.
There aren’t many complaints about their shipping policy, so it looks like most customers receive their orders on time.
Customer Service: ★★★★ 4 Stars
We couldn’t find a ton of reviews that mention their customer service, but it looks like the company provides multiple avenues to get in touch if needed. You can either submit an inquiry through their website, send a direct email, or call their customer service line if you need help.
Of course, how they handle each inquiry is the most important here, but we feel the company does its best with each customer’s situation.
What Are Other Customers Saying?
Since this brand is so popular, there are plenty of Schmidt’s deodorant reviews, so we scoured through them to see what the top points of feedback were. We found that:
- Many people love the eco-friendly and all-natural ingredients
- The price point is consumer friendly, although a little more expensive than a popular drugstore brand that isn’t natural
- Surprisingly effective compared to other natural deodorant brands we have tried
- Customers love the refreshing scents, with lots of options for both men and women
- For some people, their products containing baking soda seem to irritate the skin (although myself or my boyfriend haven’t experienced this)
- The consistency of their deodorant can make application a little difficult, especially if you keep it stored in warmer temperatures as it tends to melt
- Some customers complained about the coconut oil in their formulations staining the armpits of their shirt
Schmidt’s Charcoal & Magnesium Deodorant Review
★★★★ 4.2 stars (1266 reviews)
Made with a blend of ingredients such as charcoal, magnesium, arrowroot powder, and many more, this deodorant is meant to offer 48-hour protection with a smooth and residue-free application.
Unfortunately, some reviews mention the deodorant has caused a fair amount of discomfort, primarily due to the baking soda in its ingredients. There are also plenty of reviews that mention how much they love the product, so it really depends on the user’s skin sensitivity.
Note: This scent is my boyfriend’s favorite, he feels that it’s not too “girly.”
Schmidt’s Bergamot + Lime Review
★★★★ 4.7 stars (66 reviews)
This scent comes in a jar with a slightly creamy consistency for easy application, or you can buy it in stick form if you’d prefer that as well. It’s created to provide 24 hours of protection, and many customers seem to love the blended scent. This one also includes baking soda, so this is something you should keep in mind if you’re sensitive to the ingredient.
Otherwise, it also includes ingredients such as cocoa butter, Vitamin E, lime, and bergamot essential oils as well.
Schmidt’s Lavender + Sage Review
★★★★ 4.3 stars (56 reviews)
If you prefer spray-on deodorant, this scent may be right for you (but it also comes in stick form as well.) It offers one of the simplest blends of ingredients which includes corn alcohol, glycerin, and sage and lavender essential oils for the scent.
Although it doesn’t include baking soda as an ingredient, you should keep in mind that some essential oils can also irritate the skin. However, this seems less common than baking soda irritating the skin.
Nevertheless, it gets a pretty high rating from its customers. Although I’ve only tried their stick deodorants, I’m sure their spray is great too based on how much I love the stick versions.
The Bottom Line
Overall, my boyfriend and I both love Schmidt’s and we *highly* recommend giving it a shot on your natural deodorant journey. We have tried quite a few natural deodorant brands and Schmidt’s has been one of the most effective at controlling odor and sweat.
Although some customers complained about their products being irritating (likely due to the baking soda), neither of us has experienced this.
If your skin is overly sensitive or you already know that baking soda irritates you, this might not be the best fit for you. If you’re not sure, we’d still recommend giving it a shot – my boyfriend has very sensitive skin and he loves this deodorant.
We love the eco-friendly ingredients, invigorating scents, and natural body odor protection.
FAQs
Does Schmidt’s Deodorant Darken Armpits?
The deodorant can darken armpits for many people with a wide range of skin types, but we haven’t experienced this. Many people agree this is due to the baking soda or various essential oils found in their ingredients.
Is Schmidt’s Deodorant Good For You?
Schmidt’s is definitely a better choice than top deodorant brands that have dangerous heavy metals (like aluminum) in their products. For some people, their products are a perfect fit, but some reviews mention irritation from the baking soda in their products or essential oils.

You can find their products among a vast range of online and in-store retails such as Target, Amazon, and much more. Their website has all the extensive ingredient information you might need, so it’s best to start there if you’re new to their products.
