Scentbird Reviews: My Experience After 2+ Months

Last Updated: April 29, 2024

Perfume samples sent straight to my door? Yes, please! We’ve got everything you need to know about this perfume subscription box in our Scentbird reviews.

I can’t remember the last time I went perfume shopping. Who has time for that?

This is why I was excited to stumble across perfume subscriptions such as Scentbird, a unique service that lets you test small vials of perfumes each month before committing to the full bottle.

In essence, you get to try before you buy (or just use their vials of perfume each month) for an affordable monthly rate.

But, is Scentbird really worth it? Keep reading my honest Scentbird reviews after I subscribed for a few months to see my thoughts.

What is Scentbird?

Scentbird is a monthly perfume subscription box for both men and women that delivers designer fragrances to your door for $16.95 per month (with free shipping in the US).

Brands you can expect to receive include Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, and more. And yes, they are legit perfumes – no knockoffs here.

With your subscription, you receive one 8mL bottle of perfume of your choice (unless you choose to let them choose for you).

They also offer upgrades to your subscription where you can receive three monthly items for a higher fee.

How Does Scentbird Work?

When you sign up for Scentbird, you can take their quiz to determine your scent preferences and get matched to the fragrances you like best.

In your first order, you’ll not only receive the fragrance of your choice, but also a free, fragrance case to keep your monthly perfumes in.

Scentbird claims that each bottle holds around 140 sprays each and will last you well into your next shipment. If you’re like me and don’t wear perfume every day, you can pause or cancel your subscription anytime so you don’t stack up perfumes.

Even though Scentbird focuses on fragrances, they also offer skincare and makeup items. If you have the basic plan, you can either choose from one fragrance sample or one skincare/makeup item per month. Their more expensive plans offer additional options as well.

Deck of Scarlet is the most frequent brand I’ve seen on Scentbird (they have pretty good makeup if you haven’t tried them before).

My Scentbird Review

Overall: ★★★★ 4 stars

All in all, Scentbird is a convenient service for trying out new fragrances or just receiving scents that you don’t want to buy a full bottle of and be forced to wear for the next couple of years (this seems to be how long my perfumes last anyway).

There seem to have been some issues with shipping and customer service in the past according to some other Scentbird reviews I read, but I haven’t had any issues.

Price: ★★★★ 4 stars

$16.95 isn’t a huge fortune to shell out every month – it’s definitely one of the most affordable subscription boxes out there. Plus, they typically offer your first month for half off, which is a nice savings.

Quality:★★★★ 4 stars

Scentbird offers 100% authentic fragrances. Some customers have accused them of selling fake products, but those comments are few and far between and not yet proven. They are a pretty large brand at this point, so I would be pretty shocked if they were out here selling fakes.

Value: ★★★ 4 stars

Different customers have different opinions on the service’s value. While the amount of perfume you get per month definitely isn’t “worth” $17, you’re paying more for the experience. For me personally, Scentbird is worth it.

For others, some love that the subscription is an easy way to try new fragrances every month, while others don’t think it’s worth it because you can receive a better value by testing perfumes in a store and buying the full bottle.

But if the most important thing to you is getting the best bang for your buck, this service might not be the best fit for you.

Quick Note: I’ve tried Scentbox as well, another of the most popular fragrance subscriptions, and the two are super similar. However, one key difference is that Scentbox allows free exchanges (up to 5 per year) if you don’t like your perfume.

Is Scentbird Worth It?

If you like the idea of receiving designer fragrances at your door to try and have about $17 to spare each month, Scentbird is worth it. It’s definitely a more affordable way to try fragrances than buying a full bottle each time.

Based on my personal desires and needs, I absolutely say Scentbird is worth it!

I don’t wear perfume every day, so every time I splurge on a full bottle, it ends up lasting me years (probably going stale), and I always feel obligated to wear the same perfume over and over again. It gets old.

I love Scentbird because I get to try out new scents every month, which makes life more exciting.

Return Policy

According to their policy, Scentbird does not accept returns on subscription items. If your product arrives damaged, however, you can get a replacement within 30 days of delivery.

If you make a purchase outside of a subscription plan (full-sized products, gift sets, and some à la carte purchases), these items are eligible for return after 15 days of the delivery date. However, you can only receive a refund in the form of store credit.

If the return policy bothers you, check out Scentbox! They are similarly priced and allow for free exchanges in case you don’t like your monthly perfume (up to 5 exchanges per year).
