Jean jackets are here to stay. I will admit a few years ago when the trend hit again I was thinking this isn’t going to last longer than the winter, but I was wrong. It’s starting to look like jean jackets are becoming a closet staple that you can’t avoid. Like always, I decided that I would go and try on as many plus size jean jackets as possible and bring to you the top picks.
I’ve started doing this for a ton of plus size products because, in my opinion, there aren’t many good best lists out there. Enough said, let’s get into it!
Best Plus Size Jean Jackets
Old Navy Plus Size Jean Jacket
This jacket has a relaxed fit and is available in sizes 1x to 4x (as well as a couple different colors). I was never a big fan of Old Navy or GAP, but I do have to say they always have a large selection of plus sizes, which obviously makes me happy.
This logo-free jean jacket lived up to the hype. The cut is absolutely perfect and the color is great. I really dislike when jean jackets have one color, it makes it look so cheap, so I was pleased to see this had some depth in color.
Pros | Cons |
-Perfect fit | -Basic style (not bad if its what you want) |
-High quality | |
-Durable | |
-Great return policy |
Levi’s Plus Size Original Trucker Denim Jacket
When it comes to denim anything, Levi’s will always be on top! This is a plus-size fan favorite. It’s flowy enough to look good, but tight enough around the midsection to not look like you just threw a plastic bag on. Although a little on the short side in my opinion, this was typical for most of the jean jackets I purchased.
These go perfect with plain black leggings! They have an array of colors to choose from as well as sizes up to 4x. I’ve included an Amazon link above, but make sure to check Kohl’s and Macy’s as they sometimes have better deals.
Pros | Cons |
-Available on Amazon | -Shorter |
-Plenty of colors | -Higher Price ($40 to $80) |
-Fantastic quality | |
-Perfect fit |
Rue21 Cropped Plus Size Denim Jacket
Although I’m not normally a fan of cropped jackets, this is a great jacket if you do like them. It’s available in sizes 1x, 2x, or 3x and is pretty affordable at around $35. The quality definitely surprised me for the inexpensive cost!
It has a bit of a distressed feel, which I really like.
Pros | Cons |
Fits Well | Often Sold out ( Might have to wait) |
High Quality |
Levi’s Fleece-Lined Plus Size Denim Jacket
Yes, Levi’s again. This jacket is pretty much the same as the trucker jacket I shared above, but it has sherpa fleece lining for an extra style element (and warmth).
Although I personally opted for the regular trucker jacket because it was cheaper and I live in a warm state, this one is great for staying warm in colder climates. It’s super cozy!
Pros | Cons |
Perfect for cold climates | Price $100 |
Sherpa lining for extra coziness | Regular trucker jacket is cheaper |
Rue21 Distressed Plus Size Jean Jacket
I’ve been loving Rue21 denim jackets. They have a surprising amount of options for plus sizes, they’re affordable, and many of them look great! I’ve had this one and the cropped one for 6+ months now and they still look (and feel) as good as new.
I really liked the distressed look of this one, plus it has an oversized fit and is longer than most others I’ve tried. I loved this light wash, but they also have a cute medium wash.
Pros | Cons |
Oversized, long-line fit | Partially polyester |
Very affordable |
SLINK Jean Jacket
Yes, just yes! This is so cute and fashionable, I have a hard time finding leopard print that actually looks good on me and not cheesy. This was one of the few times where the piece pulled it off. The collar was the perfect touch to top of this perfect and unique jean jacket.
Although I’m not a fan of the branded buttons and that it’s partially made of polyester, I got over it after I realized how cute it is. I’ve washed it many times and it has remained strong, so the quality is great.
Pros | Cons |
Unique Style | Price is on the high end for jean jackets ( $65 ) |
High Quality | |
Easy Returns |
Floerns Plus Size Ripped Distressed Denim Jacket
This is another jean jacket with rips that I’m loving. It doesn’t look fake and cheesy like some other manufactured ripped jackets. In addition to plus sizes, they have 6 different cuts and 2 different colors.
I got the black with holes. The rips showed all the way through, making it the perfect jacket for layering.
Pros | Cons |
-Distressed design | -Partially of polyester |
-Great for layering |
Fashion Nova Olive Plus Size Jean Jacket
I got this jacket and didn’t have high hopes, but I ended up LOVING it. It’s cropped and the olive color is a bit hard to pair with outfits, but when you can, those are some fire outfits.
It costs around $40 and is made of mainly cotton with a little bit of spandex. Before I stumbled across this, I had no idea that Fashion Nova offered so many plus size options!
Pros | Cons |
-Thick/high-quality | -High Price For Unknown Brand |
-Great Color |
Fashion Nova Unfurgettable Denim Jacket
I purchased this jacket along with the previous jacket and am in love. The faux fur is so extra and really makes a statement, so this is the perfect option if you want a unique jacket.
The fur is actually detachable, so it can be used as a basic denim jacket as well. It’s a bit pricier than most other products from this brand, but the quality lives up to the price!
Pros | Cons |
-Unique faux fur | -None I truly love this! |
-Fur is detachable | |
-High-quality |
Styling Your Jean Jacket
You don’t need to be a fashionista to match a jean jacket! If you’re looking to get out of your comfort zone, you can get some distressed denim with holes and frays. Even then, jean jackets can be matched with just about everything. There are a few things to avoid (but in some cases, these aren’t even applicable as multi-colored denim on denim outfits are becoming trendy).
- Don’t wear black jean jackets with light colored jeans
- Don’t wear light jean with dark jeans
