What to Wear With White Shoes of Every Type

Last Updated: May 7, 2021

If you’re ready to give your go-to pair of shoes a break and pull out that cute pair of white shoes you stuffed in the closet, you might now be wondering what to wear with white shoes.

White shoes are amazing – they go with everything, but they are so bright that they offer a good contrast to any outfit. The only downside is that they get dirty, but hey, shoes are meant to be worn (just try not to wear them on a rainy, muddy day).

What to Wear with White Shoes

Now, let’s dive into what to wear with your pair of white shoes (all types included).

Sneakers

When it comes to white shoes, white sneakers in particular are a popular staple. I think everyone has had at least one pair of white converse or vans in their closet (or if you like to be extra, a pair of white platform sneakers).

Dress Them Up

This has been a trend for a while, but you sometimes need a reminder. You can absolutely dress up a pair of sneakers.

Whether you have a sleek slip dress or a flared floral dress, you can’t go wrong with pairing it with some white sneakers.

Cozy and Comfy

I love dressing up as much as the next person, but sometimes you just want to be comfy and there is nothing wrong with that.

Grab those leggings and your warm knits to pair with your white sneakers and go out there looking (and feeling) amazing.

Streetwear

If you’re into the streetwear look, pairing a fresh pair of white sneakers with streetwear will make you look amazing.

White Heels

Whether you prefer something close to a kitten heel or if you want all the height you can get, you can’t go wrong with a pair of white heels.

While you can never go wrong with a strappy pair of heels, keep an eye out for almond or square toe heels. To me, they add a bit of vintage flair to any outfit.

Keep it Light

The best part about white heels and just white shoes, in general, is that they don’t overpower an outfit.

If you’ve worked with paint, you know that even the smallest bit of black will overpower any color you use. It’s the same when you are making an outfit.

If you have a dress that is on the lighter side, think neutrals or pastels, this is the time to bring out the white heels. Pairing the two together will get you a better balance. They complement each other and will have you look amazing.

All White

On a similar note, an all white outfit paired with white heels can look amazing (this also goes for any other pair of white shoes).

Booties

These boots might not be for walking, but they certainly look amazing. While you may skip out on booties just because you already have some heels and boots that work fine, booties are the happy medium that deserves some love.

To me, booties bring a certain vibe. Whether you want a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader moment or you want a 60s go-go boot vibe, booties are the way to go. Just give them a chance, you can’t go wrong.

Distressed Jeans

Ripped jeans are the rare example of something being better when it’s broken. I am a sucker for ripped jeans and they go great with white shoes, especially booties. I think it’s because the white in the rips brings the color up higher in the outfit and brings it all together.

Whether you go for a light wash or a dark wash, just make sure your jeans have a few rips in them. You won’t regret it.

Pops of Color

While it’s great to go for lighter colors with white heels, I say go bolder with booties.

Find that one piece that adds some bright colors to your look, whether it’s your top or a jacket, just have something bold to bring your outfit together.

Combat Boots

We all love the classic all black combat boot (I myself have about 5 pairs). If you want to look and feel like a badass, combat boots are required, but the all black look is optional.

White combat boots are a nice change to a classic look, just as edgy, but a bit more dynamic.

Black Outfit

Just because your shoes aren’t black, doesn’t mean that you have to put all your black clothes away.  When it comes to all black outfits, it’s pretty easy to fade in the background. With white shoes, especially white combat boots, you add some variety without sacrificing any edge.

This is also a great way to bring attention to not only your shoes, but to yourself. Again, you don’t want to blend in, you want to stand out.

Keep it Edgy

What good is a good pair of combat boots if you don’t look and feel like a badass? This is the time to bring out your leather, velvet, your cut up jeans, even some fishnets if you’re up for it, whatever you have that will give you a little edge.

You can go do as much or as little as you’d like. The exact look doesn’t matter, it’s all about the feeling it gives you. If you feel like a badass, then you’re doing it right.
