We all love following nail trends. Whether you keep it simple or you love to go all out, your nails can add a lot to your outfits. It may seem like a small thing to focus on, but it’s all about the little details.
We’ve shown you how to stop biting them and how to take care of them, now it’s time we dress them up. There are thousands of nail art designs out there, so let’s narrow it down to the top nail trends right now and see what’s been blowing up.
Nail Trends
Negative Space
It seems like it was only recently when these manicures have been hitting our feeds, but we cannot be more happy to see them. These are especially helpful when your nails start to grow out because you can hide it a bit better when your whole nail isn’t painted.
Negative space trend keeps nail art looking minimal, with plenty of blank space showing.
You can really do whatever you want with this trend.
You can go more geometric with hard lines and angles or you can go a little more freeform with it with some curved lines and blobs. It’s pretty much a free for all, so get creative.
Curved lines are definitely the most popular trend we’ve been seeing in this category, so you may want to try this cute and fun trend out.
Abstracts + Geometric
These are two funky designs that add a little bit of fun to your look. If you’re nervous that you’ll mess them up, don’t be. These designs give a little bit of wiggle room.
You can use some tape to get the lines right or you can do it free hand. Or, to make it even easier, buy some abstract nail decals and call it good.
In the Clouds
Cloud print is everywhere right now, including on your nails. We are certainly excited about this trend and hope it’s here to stay, cloud prints always look dreamy.
Whether they look like you’re keeping the sky on your nails or if they look like they came out of a cartoon, it’s always fun to see what nail artists come up with.
Animal Prints
Sometimes, you just need a little bit of animal print in your life. You’ll always find at least one animal popping up in fashion, and your nails are a fun and easy way to join in on the trend.
Whether it’s cheetah, zebra, or the now-trending cow print, if it works for these furry creatures, it works for us too.
You can treat them as a neutral and pair them with brighter color, or you can change it up with a different color palette. Pink cows might not exist, but that doesn’t mean you can paint your nails that way.
Marbled Nails
Sometimes you want that luxury look and nothing is more luxurious than marble. Marble nails look so stunning and they are actually easier to do than they look. When people talk about simple elegance, this is what they are referring to.
Keep it classic or add some color. It’s also trendy to feature one marble nail (typically the ring fingers) and keep the other nails a solid color.
Regardless of how you do it, marble nails are a trend that’s here to stay.
Modern French Tips
We’re all familiar with the french tips – it’s so well known that some would consider it outdated. Luckily, you can modernize it to work for today’s standards.
This one is all about lines and how you use them. Our personal favorite is the curved french tip, but you can angle it to a point or finish that halfway to a more geometric look. They’re just as simple as the french tip, but still keep things interesting.
Another popular nail trend of the moment is french tips, but with colorful lines (combining the first trend on our list and french tips).
Florals
Who doesn’t love a nice bouquet of flowers? Well how about a bouquet on your nails? You can never go wrong with nature and this is just another example of that.
Whether you love daisies, sunflowers, roses, or a mix of all three, it’s fun to grow a whole garden on your nails.
This is especially great if you aren’t used to playing around with bright colors. With a floral manicure, you can keep it simple with earthtones or you can go bold with bright yellows and pinks. It’s a really versatile design.
If you want to do this nail trend at home, there are a ton of floral nail decals you can purchase to make it easy.
Blinged Out
Marilyn was right, diamonds are a girl’s best friend. Now, we can’t all get handfuls of real diamonds, but we can add a little bit of sparkle to our nails.
Whether you add a gem or two for your everyday look or you go blinged out and bold for a special occasion, you can’t really go wrong with a little shine.
Metallics
If rhinestones aren’t your thing, but you still want a little bit of shine, don’t feel left out.
With a little metallic nail polish, your nails can shine as bright as you. Whether you keep it as an accent nail or you want to add a little sparkle to your whole set, don’t be afraid to experiment with some metallics.
Pretty Pastels or Muted Mattes
Nail art isn’t just about the designs, you have to consider colors too. If you want to play around with color, but don’t like things too bright, go for pastel colors or muted shades.
Both are making the rounds all over social media and they’re both lovely in their own right. One is pretty and soft, while the other is modern and earthy. Again, two different styles just waiting for you to try out.
Mega Length
While we’re not a huge fan of this trend, we’ve been seeing celebrities and influencers rocking unreasonably long nails recently. Sure, it looks pretty cool, but how long can these nails really last?
Regardless, extra long acrylics are trendy – maybe don’t try to replicate some of the ridiculously long nails, but going a little longer than you would normally can make you feel like a boss.
Bottom Line
Whether you like to go nice and simple or you want to be the boldest in the room, there are an abundance of nail trends that people are loving. While they’re all unique in their own ways, they all result in stunning sets that help express who you are. Try one of these (or all of them), you’re going to love the results.
