Keeps Reviews: An Effective Treatment for Hair Loss?

Curious about this hair loss treatment? Keep reading our Keeps reviews for an in-depth look!

It’s a common occurrence for men who once had a wicked head of hair to realize it’s suddenly starting to fail. But, since we live in the 21st century, we have the technology to try and reverse it.

Keeps, a company dedicated to revitalizing the hair follicles on your head, aims to do so in a customer-centric, direct sale model. However, they are far from the first company to attempt to do so, and with all the options out there trying to get their own slice of you, is it really worth it?

This *unsponsored* Keeps review dives deep to answer that question.

What is Keeps?

Keeps was founded by two best friends, Steve Gutentag and Demetri Karagas, who struggled with their own hair loss and couldn’t find a workable solution. So, like all good entrepreneurs, they made their own answer: an affordable, direct-care hair loss company.

Skipping the middleman, Keeps sells directly to their customers so there’s no need to go to a doctor’s office for a costly examination and prescription.

They connect you with their team of consultants who then offer specific treatment plans tailored to each individual’s needs. Their various products are designed to tackle different hair thinning problems.

It’s important to note that Keeps does not claim to completely regrow your hair, since there is no technical cure for hair loss. What they offer is a treatment that can help stop hair loss in its tracks and potentially promote hair growth, along with other products such as shampoo and conditioner that can create the appearance of thicker, healthier hair.

Keeps Overview

To start out, Keeps has potential customers use their prosperity dashboard to navigate through a survey about their hair loss situation. Customers then have a direct consultation with a physician who has sifted through their predicament and created an individualized treatment program.

Keeps attempts to avoid the fluffer products that currently saturate the market and don’t work, and go only for premium, proven hair care products that get you back to your wicked mane.

The two medications they provide are Minoxidil and Finasteride, which are the only prescription-grade medications that are FDA approved. Depending on which plan you and your consultant decide on, you are prescribed one or the other, or a mixture of the two.

Doctors Jerry Shapiro and Antonella Tosti then review each case to make sure your treatment plan is as effective as possible. Photo evidence is needed for the doctors to really ascertain what treatment you need.

Keeps Reviews

Overall: ★★★★ 4 stars

Although results will vary overall, many customers have been satisfied with their Keeps treatment.

Pricing + Shipping: ★★★★ 4 stars

While some customers think Keeps’ pricing is reasonable and affordable, there are others who say there are cheaper options out there. Delivery is auto-renewing, and many customers have said that they received their products in a timely manner.

Product Quality: ★★★★ 4 stars

Many customers agree that Keeps’ prescriptions have helped stop hair loss and even supported hair growth.

Customer Service: ★★ 2 stars

Unfortunately, reviews on Keeps’ customer service are not great as a whole, and really bring down the overall rating of this brand. Many have stated that it is hard to get in touch with customer service, especially in regards to canceling, and that they are largely unhelpful.

Along with their prescription treatments, Keeps also offers a thickening shampoo and conditioner made with biotin, caffeine, green tea, and saw palmetto. Keep reading to find a breakdown of each one.

Keeps Thickening Shampoo

$22

Keeps paraben-free thickening shampoo is made with natural ingredients like green tea to help your hair look thicker, fuller, and healthier.

Made to deep clean your hair, this shampoo breaks down sweat, dirt, and hair-styling products that build up in your hair, potentially causing damage to the hair follicles.

Keeps Thickening Conditioner

$22

This thickening conditioner helps strengthen your cuticle layer to encourage hair growth and keep your existing hair soft and smooth.

It’s also made with natural ingredients to help protect your hair and your scalp!

*If you buy the shampoo and conditioner together in a bundle, the price is only $30 for both.

Other Keeps Reviews: What Customers Have To Say?

Keeps has gained a ton of feedback from all sorts of men around the world, both the good and the bad. These snippets of Keeps reviews from sites like Reddit really help paint the picture of the company:

“I know they say results can take like 4-6 months, but I noticed a difference after just 2. The front center of my hairline had begun filling in. I have a bit of a widows peak and it had this terrible line that left an embarrassing hair island in the front. But after 2 months it had filled in. No more island! The rest of the widows peak is making slow but certain progress. If I grow my hair longer you can barely tell my hairline isn’t full. Is my hair 100% back? Nope. Has this product helped regrow hair and fill in my hairline? Absolutely.” – Jason S. on ConsumersAdvocate

“I went with Keeps. Still getting my fin from them but you can get the minoxidil much cheaper from Amazon (Kirkland brand). Tbh you’re probably better off seeing a dermatologist [and] telling him/her that you’re losing your hair, you’re self conscious about it and you’d like a prescription for proscar (it’s 5mg fin, so just get a pill cutter and cut it into 4, equalling 1.25 mg per dose). It’ll be tons cheaper than Keeps.” – ImgurIsPrettyBad on Reddit

After searching the web through hundreds of customer reviews on Keeps, here are the main points of feedback:

  • Easy application
  • Noticeable difference in hair growth
  • Some believe it is affordable, while others say it is overpriced
  • Difficult to cancel
  • Customer service can be hard to work with

Keeps Subscription Plan

Keeps uses a subscription model for their service instead of direct product buying, starting out at around $10 a month. Each shipment is then packed with a 3 month supply that auto-renews so you never run out.

Minoxidil is their cheapest plan at $30 for a 3 month supply (or $45 if you choose the foaming solution.)

A prescription of Finasteride is $75 for a 3 month supply, and a mixture of the two can cost up to $120 for a 3 months supply.

They do offer a discount for new subscribers, but you will be charged the full price after your first 3 months.

Side Effects of Keeps

Like all medications, there is a chance of side effects that you should be aware of.

Some rare side effects of Minoxidil include:

  • Acne at application site
  • Burning
  • Facial hair growth
  • Increased hair loss
  • Inflammation, redness, or swelling

Possible Finasteride side-effects:

  • Rash
  • Itching
  • Swelling
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Dizziness
  • Testicle pain and difficulty urinating

Return Policy

Because Keeps offers prescription treatments that are personal to each individual, they do not accept returns (but will replace your items if they arrive damaged).

This is understandable since they cannot use personal treatments for someone else for safety reasons. It’s definitely something to keep in mind, however.

The Bottom Line: Is Keeps Worth It?

In the case of Keeps, it really is all about experimentation and finding out what works for you. It works for some, it doesn’t for others, and that’s the truth for almost all medications and treatments since each of our bodies are different.

Most agree that their products can be beneficial, but that customer service is largely unreliable and difficult to work with.

You can always take advantage of the cheaper packages and then cancel before the price hike if you’re hesitant. Be warned though, cancellation is apparently difficult with Keeps and can’t be done online. It is a common complaint among users, even positive ones.
